The foundation of Lightning Blackjack is pretty much the same as any blackjack gameplay. The aim is to form a hand with a value as close to 21 as possible without surpassing it and getting closer to 21 than the dealer. As such, there are three ways to win: 

• Earning a hand closer to 21 than the dealer.
• The dealer going bust.
• Earning a hand consisting of a 10-point card and an ace, adding up to 21 exactly, otherwise known as ‘blackjack’.  

Remember, as in all blackjack games, it is important to know how each card is valued, as this heavily ties into the gameplay as well as your strategy, if you’re using one. Numbered cards are taken at face value, while face cards each have a value of 10. The ace has a value of either one or 11, depending on your hand.

Now for the part we’ve all been waiting for — the bonus features. 

If your hand wins the round, you will receive a randomly generated multiplier, ranging between 2x and 25x. Though, you will not receive that multiplier upon winning immediately. 

Unlike Lightning Roulette, where lightning multipliers are added to the game before the round begins, Lightning Blackjack will carry the multiplier on to the next round.  

The lightning multiplier you’ll be assigned will correspond to your winning hand value. There are six different ranges of multipliers that can be randomly assigned:

• Hand value of 4-17: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x.
• Hand value of 18: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x.
• Hand value of 19: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x, 12x.
• Hand value of 20: 2x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 10x, 15x. 
• Hand value of 21: 2x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 20x.
• Blackjack: 2x, 5x, 8x, 12x, 15x, 25x. 

THE LIGHTNING FEE

This is where things get a little tricky. 

Each game round, you will pay a mandatory Lightning Fee of 100% of your initial bet. It basically acts as a side bet that you can win or lose. Only one lightning fee is paid per hand, so you won’t have to worry about paying double on a split hand. 

If you win a round with an active lightning multiplier, the main bet (up to the value of the Lightning Fee) will be boosted. If you had decided to adjust your bet, the remaining part of your wager would be paid out at the standard payout rates. 

A TYPICAL GAME ROUND

A typical round of Lightning Blackjack would generally begin with a round of betting where you will be given an allotted time frame to place your bets. 

Place bets by selecting one of the different coloured game chips found on your screen. Each chip would have its own value, so remember to bet within your limits. An additional Lightning Fee, equal to your wager, will be taken automatically. 

Once the betting time expires, six different multipliers will be generated randomly and will appear on the screen. The dealer will then hand out your first two cards, and from there, you will be given the following options: 

• Hit — Draw an additional card.
• Stand — Remain with your current hand.
• Double Down — Double your bet and receive an additional card.
• Split — Split a pair into two separate hands.

If both you and the dealer earn a hand with the same value, then you’ll both push. In this case, your original bet will be returned, and the Lightning Fee and the multiplier will be lost. 

If your hand wins, your multiplier will activate in the next round. If this round already had an active multiplier, then your payout will be boosted.
