HUNGARIAN GP PREVIEW

HUNGARIAN GP PREVIEW

Hungary GP

The Hungaroring will be providing the action this weekend as Formula 1 returns. In the weeks between race weekends, we have had a change in the driver lineup, with Nyck de Vries being sacked from Alphatauri and being replaced by Daniel Riccardo, who was a reserve driver for Red Bull. We are looking forward to seeing the ‘Honey Badger’ back in action, and by the looks of it, some slips and spills are on the cards.

Last week, we enjoyed a competitive sprint weekend, where McLaren and Ferrari looked particularly strong, whilst Mercedes and their customers Aston Martin were off the pace, mainly caused by the track layout. Join us on LV BET Sports Blog for more things about Formula 1.

LAST TIME OUT

Two weeks ago, we went racing in Silverstone, and it had everything, drama from start to finish as Lando Norris overtook Max Verstappen at the start, led for the initial five laps, but eventually, the raw pace of the Red Bull roared back with Verstappen retaking the lead. Piastri showed that he is not far off his teammate Lando Norris in terms of race pace

A safety car was called after Kevin Magnussen’s Haas came to a complete stop and fire could be seen near the engine. That reduced the gap to all the drivers and altered the strategy for most of the field. The McLaren’s went for hard tires, whilst the rest of the field opted for the red-marked soft tires. Lando Norris fought off Lewis Hamilton after the restart to finish in P2, with the seven-time world champion back on the podium for his home race.

It was yet another race to forget for Ferrari, who just dropped down the order as the race progressed. Especially Sainz at the end of the race, he was a sitting duck with Perez, Albon and Leclerc overtaking on a single lap. A double DNF for Alpine continued to dent their hopes of matching the surge of pace from McLaren, whilst the Mercedes looked solid but lacked the straight line speed to compete with the McLaren.

RACE WINNERS

Lewis Hamilton has a brilliant track record in Hungary winning the GP a record of eight times and he is priced at 15.00 to extend his impressive record further and make it nine. The Red Bulls are expected to bring some upgrades to the car, with most of the engineers forecasting that this will benefit the drivers with at least two tenths of a second each lap. Max Verstappen is priced at 1.33, whilst Sergio Perez is at 12.00 to get rid of the qualifying gremlins that he has been experiencing lately and get the win.

PODIUM FINISHERS

Fighting for a place on the podium, we have Fernando Alonso who is valued at 1.90, despite recent performances. The upgrades brought onto the car did not leave the impact that was desired and has pushed them outside the top two cars at the moment. Charles Leclerc is at 3.75 to hold firm and earn his team a podium whilst, George Russell is at 4.50 to spray champagne at the end of it all.

CARS BETTING

  • Ferrari to have both cars finish in the top six at 2.50
  • Alpine to have both cars in the points at 2.75
  • Alfa romeo to be the first car to retire at 8.50
