A very competitive Europa League competition is reaching its conclusion as we approach the quarter-finals. Sevilla, who has won the competition a record six of times, take on Manchester United, who in theory are the favourites to win it this year. Manchester United haven’t had the best of time when playing against Sevilla in Europe, but this year it could be different. Sevilla has had their troubles this season, currently in 14th place, just two points off the relegation zone, an unheard of position for a club the stature of Sevilla.
Join us as we look forward to the first leg of the tie, which is to be played in Old Trafford, to benefit from outstanding betting odds. We will post match previews for every game until the Final on our LV BET Sports Blog and our Twitter page.
MAN UNITED
Manchester United are in a great position this year, not playing Champions League football but are in a position to win the Europa League. They have to overcome yet another Spanish side after beating Barcelona in the playoff and Real Betis in the round of 16 and now face Sevilla in the quarter-finals.
In cup competitions, Old Trafford has proven to be a fortress once again as results are coming their way. The tie against Real Betis was done and dusted at Old Trafford as the Red Devils got four past Real Betis. A similar start to the tie would be fantastic for Ten Hag and his players. We are pricing a comfortable win of 3-1 in favour of the home side at 9.50, with United being the first team to score in the game at 1.28.
Ten Hag will push the team to go all out in the opening stages, knowing how bad the results have been for Sevilla on the road. Jose Luis Mendilibar, who is now in charge of the squad, might not have enough time to shake things up for the better.
SEVILLA
After a long-troubled season, Sevilla decided to part ways with Jorge Sampaoli and is now being replaced by Jose Luis Mendilibar. The new manager will hope that they can turn around their fortunes in the league whilst also going toe to toe with one of the best sides in Europe. The new manager has many Premier League experienced players, such as Bryan Gil, Alex Telles, Erik Lamela and Jesus Navas.
The team needs to rediscover their spark and push ahead, as they have great players in and around their team. Their form away from home is scary; in their last five away matches in all competitions, they lost four and drew one, conceding an astonishing 12 goals. They would love to break that trend and earn a positive result at Old Trafford to set them up nicely for the second leg in Seville.
In previous meetings, the Spanish team were able to ride the storm when visiting Old Trafford, and we are pricing an under 2.5 goals in the match at 2.07 and Sevilla to score first in the match at 3.80
MATCH ODDS
Manchester United are clear favourites to win at 1.30, with Sevilla at 8.75 to impress at Old Trafford, and a draw is valued at 4.90.
