Race Winners
Max Verstappen – Things looked like they were slipping away from Max Verstappen after a race-ending crash with Lewis Hamilton in the British GP saw him slip down into second place in the Driver Championship before the summer break. Two first-place finishes later, the Dutch maestro finds himself back atop the leaderboard with three points to spare. Red Bull’s ace comes in as the favourite to replicate his home Grand Prix and dominate in Italy this weekend. Max Verstappen is at 6/7 (1.85) to win the Italian Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton – There was a time when a Lewis Hamilton victory at Monza was almost a guarantee. However, the five-time Italian GP winner hasn’t found himself on the top step of the Monza podium in over three years. In what is quickly becoming one of the biggest Driver Championship fights of his career, Lewis Hamilton measures up at 1/1 (2.00) to outpace his rivals and become the driver with the most career wins around the Italian circuit.
Top 3 Finishers
Valtteri Bottas – Although a signed contract with Alfa Romeo ensures that there will be at least one Finn left on the grid next year, not many supporters of Valtteri Bottas are overly excited with the move. While he remains an incredibly talented driver who could easily mix it up with the best of the best on his day, it is unlikely that he will have many opportunities to do so in the future, racing for the other Italian car manufacturer. Valtteri Bottas measures up at 5/7 (1.72) to finish in the top three and show Mercedes what he’s still capable of.
Sergio Perez – A bad qualifying and a gearbox change left Sergio Perez starting from the back last time out in Zandvoort. Although it wasn’t the position Red Bull would have liked their second driver to start from, Sergio Perez quickly put his pedal to the metal and finished the race in eighth place – having overtaken 12 of his 19 colleagues throughout the 72 laps. The Mexican driver is at 5/2 (3.50) to show off his race pace in Monza and finish on any of the top three steps this Sunday.
Lando Norris – Not many would have predicted Lando Norris spending most of his time around the top three positions of the Driver Championship leaderboard before the season. The McLaren driver has shown impeccable racecraft in his MCL35, reaching the podium steps three times this season and frequently leading as the best of the rest. The young British driver is at 5/2 (3.50) to show his talent this weekend and finish the Italian Grand Prix spraying champagne from the podium.
Top 6 Finishers
Ferrari Drivers – Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are no strangers to a Monza podium. In recent years the Ferrari drivers have finished on the top step and in second place respectively. Keen to make an impression in front of their adoring tifosi, Charles Leclerc comes in at 2/5 (1.40) to make it into the top six, while Carlos Sainz is at 2/3 (1.67) to finish well into the points.
Pierre Gasly – Undoubtedly one of the drivers of the season, Pierre Gasly continues to impress the grid by putting his car well ahead of the predictions of fans and pundits. While it is unlikely – but not impossible – that Pierre Gasly will replicate his race-winning 2020 drive around the Monza circuit, he’s well valued at 3/2 (2.50) to finish in the top six and secure vital points for both the Constructor and Driver Championships.
