FORMULA 1: MONACO GP PREVIEW

FORMULA 1: MONACO GP PREVIEW

Monaco GP

The crown jewel is up for grabs this weekend as Formula 1 storms the streets of Monaco. The notorious narrow circuit at the Principality normally translates into a boring race with not much action due to the low probability of overtakes, but that is just how good and consistent drivers are with their throttle input and steering. We are bound to have a crash or two during the practice sessions and qualifying as drivers try to extract those extra important tenths.

RACE WINNERS

The Monaco GP was planned to be a week after the Imola GP, but floods struck the region and made it impossible for a race to take place. This means that the upgrade package that teams had planned to go on the car at Imola will go for Monaco, which has a completely different approach in terms of car setup. Mercedes are a team that was mainly affected by the decision, as they would now need to wait for the Spanish GP to reap their rewards. Streets circuits have become somewhat of a speciality for Red Bull driver Sergio Perez who is priced at 3.75 to claim the top spot again following his triumph this time last year. By the looks of it, we are going to have a similar scenario in terms of weather conditions as we did last year, with the forecast suggesting that every day it will rain. That would be the catalyst of an entertaining race as we see mixed strategies and a couple of overtakes throughout. Ferrari got it all wrong double stacking Leclerc which ended his hopes of getting onto the podium, we are pricing Leclerc to win at 6.50, whilst the red-hot Fernando Alonso is priced at 6.50 to produce yet another masterclass.

PODIUM FINISHERS

Given that the conditions will be different and changing all the time, we might have a mixed grid on Sunday. We are pricing Lewis Hamilton at 4.50 and George Russell at 4.50 to claim a podium finish, whilst Pierre Gasly is at 34.00 to push his Alpine towards to sharp end of the pack.

CARS BETTING

  • Ferrari to get pole position at 2.50
  • Both Aston Martin to finish top six 2.37
  • Both Haas to finish in the points at 6.00
