SENEGAL
Losing the first game of the group stages is never ideal for any team, but for Senegal, that gave them a big incentive to go all out in the other two games. Against Qatar, they managed to get the win, which was on the cards seeing how the host team played their opening match. In the final game against Ecuador, the tempo at the beginning of the game was very high, and the Indomitable Lions created a lot of chances. Still, it was at the stroke of halftime when Sarr was sent tumbling, and a penalty kick was awarded, which he converted cooly. Senegal showed great character and resilience, and despite playing without their star man Sadio Mane, they managed to get the result.
The prospect of going up against England might not faze Senegal that much, but it’s visible that England are not unbeatable. If you put the back line under enough pressure they will crack and that will be the instruction from Aliou Cisse.
Senegal are priced at 26/9 (3.90) to score the first goal of the match with Ismaila Sarr at 7/2 (4.50) to score anytime during the game. Senegal to qualify for the next stage of the tournament is priced at 13/4 (4.25).
ENGLAND
Securing first place in the group was crucial for England and they did that in style, beating Wales 3-0. Marcus Rashford made up for his missed chances in the first half to score two outstanding strikes to push England ahead. Gareth Southgate has been criticised for his decisions taken throughout the game, but one thing that people cannot forget is the great results obtained in past tournaments.
Senegal will be weakened without Sadio Mane, but they are still a force to be reckoned with as dangers comes from all angles. Ismaila Sarr will be the key man to look out for as his pace might be cause for concern to Harry Maguire and John Stones, who aren’t the quickest across the pitch.
England have a good chance of progressing to the next stage, and LV BET is pricing a 2-0 victory at 22/9 (3.45), with Harry Kane scoring his first goal of the tournament at 1/1 (2.00). England is priced at 2/11 (1.18) to qualify for the next round.
