EUROPA LEAGUE ROUND OF 16: BETTING TIPS
BAYERN LEVERKUSEN VS ATALANTA (2-3)
In Bergamo, Gian Pier Gasperini’s side made home advantage count and won 3-2 against a resilient Leverkusen side that took the lead early on but conceded twice in the space of two minutes, then added a second later in the second half from Diaby reducing the deficit for the German side. An entertaining encounter in the first-leg raises the prospect of another close contest for a place in the Quarter-finals.
Atalanta have won each of their three Europa League knockout matches since dropping down from the Champions League at the end of last year – contrasting their domestic form during 2022. The Nerazzurri are renowned for their attacking flair, they have started to lose their touch in the final third – failing to find the net in three of their last four Serie A fixtures.
Bayer Leverkusen are aiming to get back to the Champions League by virtue of a top-four Bundesliga finish but the ACL tear for youngster Florian Wirtz have rocked their chances as he is out for the rest of the season. This absence will add to the continued absence of German top-flight second-top scorer, Patrick Schick.
Ruslan Malinovskyi to score anytime during the match is at 5/2 (3.50)
Both teams to score in the match is at 1/2 (1.50)
Match Odds – Bayer Leverkusen are valued at 27/20 (2.35) to win, whilst Atalanta are at 7/4 (2.75), and a draw at 29/10 (3.90).
GALATASARAY VS BARCELONA (0-0)
After the match in Camp Nou ending in a draw, Barcelona are up against it when travelling to Turkey to play at the notoriously hostile NEF Stadyumu. Xavi’s side enters the contest having hit Osasuna for four without a reply in their last game in La Liga. Centre-back Gerard Pique has been ruled out of the contest when he was taken off after picking up a knock against Osasuna.
In the weekend the Turkish side saw off rivals Besiktas by beating them 2-1 as Torrent seeks to instill a sense of resilience into the faltering giants. In all competitions, Galatasaray has only lost once in their last seven games and only failed to score in one of their last 16 home games. Galatasaray fans will hope that they can yet again frustrate their opponents and progress to the Quarter-Final stage.
We are pricing a 2-1 Barcelona win at 15/2 (8.50)
Aubameyang to score anytime during the match is valued at 7/10 (1.70)
Both teams to score in the match 9/10 (1.90)
Match Odds – Galatasaray line up at 15/2 (8.50), whilst Barcelona are the favourites at 3/8 (1.38), and a draw at 43/10 (5.30).
WEST HAM VS SEVILLA (0-1)
The Hammers were outplayed in Spain but managed to keep the score at a respectable 1-0 despite facing seven shots on target. Julen Lopetegui will hope to continue the good form that his side has shown this season when playing away from home, losing just two from 15 games in La Liga.
West Ham on the other hand boast an impressive home record losing just four from the 15 matches played this season. In a packed London Stadium of 60,000 spectators, David Moyes will be hoping his team can rise to the occasion and get the better of the opposition who are yet to win away from home in Europe this season, for a chance to make it to the Quarter-Finals of a European Championship.
Michail Antonio is tipped to be the difference with his athleticism and incisive runs in behind Sevilla’s backline, together with Sead Benrahma who is deputising instead of the injured Jarrod Bowen.
For Sevilla, Anthony Martial is expected to start ahead of Lucas Ocampos who will serve a suspension for collecting his third yellow card in Europe, and Ivan Rakitic will partner with Thomas Delaney in the heart of midfield.
We are pricing a 2-0 win for the Home side at 35/4 (9.75)
Michaill Antonio to score anytime during the match is priced at 11/4 (3.75)
Anthony Martial to haunt his old rivals is valued at 37/10 (4.70)
Match Odds – West Ham are at 13/10 (2.30) to win, whilst Sevilla are valued at 47/20 (3.35), and a draw at 32/10 (3.30)
