We are approaching the climax of the Premier League, and with fixtures coming thick and fast, we are in for a thrilling conclusion. The league table has been divided into four different sections: the title chase, the fight for the top four, relegation and mid-table. All the teams in the sections mentioned are finding it difficult to progress through the table.
In this blog, we are going to tackle the fight for the top four and the title chase. Liverpool look to gain three points as they welcome a dismantled Tottenham Hotspurs side, whilst Manchester United look to strengthen their hold on finishing in the top four as they welcome Unai Emery’s Aston Villa to Old Trafford. LIVERPOOL V TOTTENHAM
PREMIER LEAGUE FORM: W – W – D – D – L V L – L – W – D – D
After a rocky spell, Jurgen Klopp and his side have stabilised themselves and are starting to gain momentum as they seek Champions League football for next season. Their last home game against Nottingham Forest proved to be a tricky affair after the Forest came back from behind twice but were unlucky not to find a third one. The long throw tactic caused uncertainty in the box for Liverpool, and that is where the away side produced the best chances. Despite that, Liverpool showed great composure in front of goal to take their chances and earn a valuable three points. Looking ahead at this weekend, they have Tottenham next, who after being dismantled by Newcastle, have confidence at an all-time low. Jurgen Klopp will surely fire up his team to start on a strong foot.
Taking a look at Tottenham, after sacking Antonio Conte, they have also sacked his assistant Christian Stellini after the embarrassing defeat against Newcastle. Ryan Mason is back in charge of his old club, who will try to stabilise the ship and hopefully avoid more poor performances like that at St James’ Park. The club is experiencing a turbulent time, no stability, players who seemingly look like they are not up to the task and fans whose frustrations are growing by the minute.
By the looks of it, in terms of confidence and momentum, this should be Liverpool’s game, and we are pricing the home side to win with a correct score of 2-0 at 9.00. Both teams to score is at 1.60 with a gritty performance from Tottenham earning them a 1-1 draw at 9.00
MATCH ODDS: Obvious favourites for this game are Liverpool priced at 1.65, whilst Tottenham Hotspurs are at 5.15 to produce a phenomenal game considering their form and a draw at 4.45.
MAN UNITED V ASTON VILLA
PREMIER LEAGUE FORM: W – W – W – L – D V D – W – W – W – W
Man United and Unai Emery once again lock horns, this time at Old Trafford. Two impressive sides who improved tremendously throughout the course of the season will play each other this weekend. Erik ten Hag managed to seal the Carabao Cup title and, last weekend, managed to book the FA Cup Final against Man City, which is where Manchester United should be as a club. Aston Villa are pushing the envelope in terms of European football under Unai Emery after a terrible start under Steven Gerrard. The players are performing well and look to end the season with more of the same.
In the reverse fixture, it was Unai Emery’s first few days in charge of the Claret and Blue when they managed to win against United at Villa Park. Ollie Watkins and Buendia has been instrumental towards the success that they have enjoyed this season. Defensively they are more structured and proving to be a tough nut to crack when faced by tough opponents. On the other hand, Manchester United are looking tired in all areas of the pitch, mainly due to the fixture pile-up that they had ever since the FIFA World Cup.
Erik ten Hag’s management skills will be tested to the very limit as he has to manage the injuries sustained to his primary centre-backs, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane. We are pricing a 2-1 victory for the home side at 7.75, with Aston Villa to score first at 2.70.
MATCH ODDS: Manchester United are the favourites to win, priced at 1.72, whilst Aston Villa are at 4.65 and a draw valued at 4.25.
ARSENAL V CHELSEA
PREMIER LEAGUE FORM: D – D – D – W – W V L – L- D – L – D
A poor run of form has dented the hopes for Arsenal to win the Premier League, as Man City continued winning their games, but the young team of Mikel Arteta faulted under the pressure. Another test of the resilience is up next as they take on Chelsea. Despite the horrible season by Chelsea they are more than capable to produce a game that could tilt the scales of the premier league title. The players’ potential is there, it’s just a matter of the coach extracting that on the pitch.
Chelsea don’t have any aims to fulfill until the end of the season. They are way behind the European places but have enough points to be safe in terms of relegation. They are playing for pride and trying to find a way to start playing as a team and produce match-winning performances. It will be a touch ask for any manager that would come through the door to replace Frank Lampard, but he will be well-equipped to execute the plans going forward.
A massive effort from Arsenal to push for the title might have ended, but the players will gain invaluable experience, giving them more fuel for the years ahead. We are pricing a 2-1 Arsenal win at 8.50, with Chelsea to score first is at 2.70
MATCH ODDS: League leaders, Arsenal are priced at 1.80 to win at home against Chelsea, who are at 4.30 to win and a draw priced at 4.10.
