The first Grand Slam tournament of the 2023 calendar year, the Australian Open, will surely be one of the great tournaments. Carlos Alcaraz
The young superstar is just 19 years old and is already making moves on the big stage. The strength and precision in which he hits the ball is just magnificent to watch and a nightmare to play against. Being Spanish, he will surely be eager to come up against Rafael Nadal in the late stages of the tournament in order to seal his destiny as one of the greats in the sports.

Rafael Nadal
Despite winning the tournament last year, Nadal is not the favourite to win his 23rd Grand Slam title but he will surely be a strong contender on the hard surface. When asked if this could potentially be his last Australian Grand Slam, the Spanish great stated that he is not focusing on that at the moment and he will do his best to make a good start to the year and be competitive on the court.
As many other professionals, he is more focused on beating his opponents rather than seeing if this would be his last year competing at the Australian Open, but for tennis’s sake it will be a shame if he retires.

Daniil Medvedev
The Russian Tennis player came close to winning the title in 2022, but after a thrilling match against Rafael Nadal, he simply couldn’t match his opponent. Medvedev has reached the final of the Australian Open in 2021 and 2022 and is yet to win the title.
The four finals in which the Russian participated where all contested on hard surfaces and, in the final, he met either Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic, and won just once against Djokovic with a 6-4 , 6-4, 6-4.
