European countries, close neighbours and not-so-close neighbours prepare for the biggest musical competition on the planet this Saturday as the world welcomes back the Eurovision Song Contest!
Last Eurovision Song Contest
Duncan Laurence took the world by storm two years ago when he took to the stage with his emotionally striking song Arcade in Tel Aviv. The Dutch singer won the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest competition by claiming 498 points, 27 more than his closest opponent.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was planned to be the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest; however, due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the event had to be cancelled for the first time in its 64-year history.
The 2021 Eurovision Song Contest
For the fifth time in their history, the Netherlands play host to the Eurovision Song Contest after their very own Duncan Laurence won the 2019 competition with his song Arcade.
The 2021 final will take place this Saturday, 22 May 2021, at 21:00 (CEST), and will consist of a total of 26 countries, including the host nation, the Big Five (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom), and the 10 best-ranked entries of each of the two semi-finals.

ITALY
Roman rock band Måneskin will represent Italy in the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.
After rising to fame by finishing second in the Italian version of The X Factor in 2012, the band went from strength to strength and eventually won the right to represent their country by winning the Sanremo Music Festival 2021.
Måneskin will attempt to be the first rock band to win the competition since Finland’s Lordi achieved it in 2006 with their song Hard Rock Hallelujah.
Måneskin‘s Zitti E Buoni is the current favourite to win the competition at 12/5 (3.40).
FRANCE
Representing France in the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest is singer, songwriter and actress Barbara Pravi.
Barbara Pravi has established a name for herself within the industry as a formidable songwriter and has written songs for Yannick Noah, Julie Zenatti, Chimène Badi, and Jaden Smith. Additionally, she composed the song J’imagine for Valentina, which won the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
With the spotlight now shining on her, Barbara Pravi takes to the stage this Saturday armed with her song Voilà.
Barbara Pravi’s Voilà is at 3/1 (4.00) to win the competition and become the sixth French song to take first place in the Eurovision Song Contest competition.
MALTA
Malta’s Destiny Chukunyere is back in the Eurovision.
After flooring the world in 2015 by winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with her song Not My Soul, everybody knew that it would only be a matter of time until the talented singer would make a return to the Eurovision stage.
By winning the second season of the Maltese version of The X Factor, Destiny Chukunyere was chosen to represent the small Mediterranean island in the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest with her song Je Me Casse.
Sassier than ever and filled to the brim with female empowerment, Destiny’s Je Me Casse is at 4/10 (5.00) to bring the gold medal to Malta for the first time in history.
