DotA 2 Pro Circuit — Upper Division

Now that Week 5 of the Pro Circuit has come to an end, it’s time to see which DotA 2 pro team will dominate the field over the next few stages of the competition. The top four upper-division teams will qualify for the upcoming Major and compete for a chance to bag a championship title. There have definitely been some interesting matchups this season, with still more to come in Week 6.

If you want to know more about this season’s DotA 2 Pro Circuit, join us for a closer look as we step back in time and enjoy some of the highs and lows of this tournament so far.

Eastern Europe

The Eastern European Upper Division has seen quite a few big names in the running, including Virtus.pro and Team Spirit. Their reign may have been threatened last season, but they are definitely standing strong this time around as the top two teams moving into Week 6, VP standing at 7-0, and Team Spirit at 5-1. Team Unique, AS Monaco Gambit and Natus Vincere are all battling it out for that third-place position, with a Win/Loss ratio of 3-3 each. This might be settled with the upcoming match between NAVI and PuckChamp this Friday — if NAVI secure the win, it might be enough to push them up the ladder. EXTREMUM have been knocked down again and again, standing at 0-6, and Winstrike Team is not too far ahead with 2-5.

Western Europe

This season’s Western Europe Upper Division features many fan-favourite teams you’d definitely want to keep an eye out for. Powerhouses like Alliance, Team Nigma and Team Liquid have taken centre stage, securing top spots in the ranks. Alliance have been absolutely stellar to watch this season as they currently hold the number one position with six wins and just one loss.

Despite being S13 winners, Team Secret are getting crushed this time around as they battle for fourth place this week, along with Brame and OG who all ended last week with a 3-3. It will be very interesting to see how it all goes down — will Team Secret have a chance at redemption, or will Alliance come out unscathed? Hellbear Smashers don’t seem to be doing too well either as they have been smashed week after week, landing themselves at the bottom of the ladder with a score of 0-7.

North America

The Quincy Crew stand at a solid 6-0 in the top spot for the season; the question is will they be able to keep their win streak squeaky clean this week? Both Evil Geniuses and Undying are hot on their tails with five wins and one loss each.

The S A D B O Y S must be living up to their name this season after a crushing 0-2 defeat at the hands of Quincy Crew in Week 5, which left them with a Win/Loss ratio of 1-6. Together with The Cut, who are currently at 0-7, these two teams are bound to be cut from the running.

Current Standings

  • Eastern Europe — Virtus.pro (7-0) moves onto the Major Playoffs, and Team Spirit (5-1) advances to the Major Group Stage. EXTREMUM (0-6) are out and move onto the Lower Division.
  • Western Europe — Alliance (6-1) qualified for the Major Playoffs. The Major Group stage is still to be decided. Hellbear Smashers (0-7) are eliminated.
  • North America — The teams qualifying for the Playoffs and Major Group Stage are still to be decided. S A D B O Y S (1-6) and The Cut (0-7) downgrade to the lower division.

Pro Circuit Format

  • Six Upper Division teams along with two from the Lower Division will make up the total eight Pro Circuit participating teams.
  • All matches are Bo3, round-robin format.
  • Top four teams qualify for the upcoming Major — first-place team qualifies for the Playoffs, second-place team qualifies for the Major Group Stage; third and fourth-place teams qualify for the Major Wild Card.
