FORMULA 1 MONACO GP: BETTING TIPS

RACE WINNERS

Max Verstappen – With his latest victory in Spain, the Dutch driver is now leading the World Championship as his rival Charles Leclerc suffered an engine problem around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Despite most Formula 1 fans wanting to see an on-track duel between Perez and Max for the lead, Red Bull are reluctant to risk points in that regard. In the initial stages of the previous race, the reigning world champion was frustrated due to a fault in his DRS system, which cost him seconds each lap as he was not able to overtake George Russell. Ultimately, the team changed his strategy and with great cooperation from his teammate, he was able to take his third win in a row and the second Red Bull one-two of the season. Max Verstappen is at 5/4 (2.25) to win the Monaco Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc – Charles Leclerc looked on course to have a brilliant weekend before a fault in his engine forced him to retire his car. The Monegasque driver was cruising in the lead, enjoying a 15 seconds gap as George Russell was holding off Max. Next weekend the Ferrari driver will be driving in his home town, a place that has not brought him any good luck in previous years. Leclerc will be looking to make amends for lost points in Spain and set his bad luck aside this Sunday. Charles Leclerc is priced at 1/1 (2.00) to win at home.

Sergio Perez – Although voicing his frustrations on the decision to allow his teammate, Max Verstappen, to pass him for the lead, Perez has shown some great pace in recent races. His ability to preserve tyres in Monaco will surely be an asset. It will come down to his qualifying pace, which is worth its weight in gold around the streets of Monaco. We are pricing Perez to win at 16/1 (17.00)

TOP 3 FINISHERS

Carlos Sainz – The Spanish driver has had some races to forget lately, with another disappointing result coming in fifth in his home race. Sainz was caught out by a tailwind coming to turn three, which saw him spin out into the gravel, costing him valuable seconds and ruining his best tyres. Last year, Carlos was hailed as one of the consistent drivers on the grid, but it is more of a hit and miss this year. We are pricing Carlos Sainz to get onto the podium places at 11/10 (2.10).

Lewis Hamilton – Last weekend was the first weekend in which the Mercedes looked like a competitive car with excellent results for both Mercedes drivers in qualifying, uplifting the mood on both ends of the garage. For Lewis, it couldn’t have started any worse for Lewis as he tangled with Kevin Magnussen on the long right-hander, with Hamilton suffering from a puncture which saw him limp to the points and coming out in 19th place. His remarkable comeback was a spectacular effort and showed the potential of the Mercedes. We are pricing Lewis Hamilton to get his first podium finish this year at 9/4 (3.25)

Lando Norris – The British driver was unwell throughout the weekend in Spain but managed to power through the illness to come home in eighth place. Last year he got a podium finish in Monaco, and we are pricing him to repeat that success one year on at 9/1 (10.00)
