FIFA WORLD CUP: SAUDI ARABIA V MEXICO – GAME PREVIEW

FIFA WORLD CUP: SAUDI ARABIA V MEXICO – GAME PREVIEW

Saudi Arabia V Mexico

A thrilling and exciting group that is coming to an end. Group C sees Saudi Arabia take on Mexico at the Lusail Stadium. Saudi Arabia have three points after their famous win against Argentina, whilst Mexico have just one point from their draw against Poland. Saudi Arabia will hope that there will be a winner in the other game of Group C, and hope they can get the better of Mexico to have a chance of a famous qualification. Mexico are still looking for their first victory of the group and hope that they have saved the best for last.

Having a look at the FIFA rankings, Mexico occupy 13th place whilst Saudi Arabia are in 51st and will surely climb up the rankings after a great showing in this FIFA World Cup.

SAUDI ARABIA

A monumental win against Argentina lifted the spirits of the Saudi fans, but it was not enough to get anything from the game against Poland. The team spirit and belief of the team is what made them a hard nut to crack against Argentina but failed to keep their concentration for the whole 90 minutes against Poland.

The team does not have an abundance of quality in it, and they rely on grit by the players and their tactically superior coach Herve Renard, who rose to popularity after his half time team talk against Argentina. A win from his players will secure qualification to the knockout stages putting either Poland or Argentina on the brink of elimination.

Saudi Arabia are priced at 13/7 (2.85) to be the first team to score in the match with under 2.5 goals in the match at 11/10 (2.10)

MEXICO

It will be the first encounter between these two teams and it will be a crucial too. Mexico stand with just a point after the Poland stalemate and need points on the board. Against Argentina, the Mexican side managed to fend off the fierce attacking force for the majority of the time but the inevitable magical left foot of Messi found the back of the net. After going behind, Mexico tried to mount a comeback but they lacked quality in the final third with most of their attacks dying off before they even began.

One of the weaknesses of this Mexican side is the inability to capitalize on moments in the game where they can potentially swing the game in their favour. Against Saudi Arabia, they will need to go for it with everything they have and hope that their attackers are on hand to pounce at the opportunity when it presents itself.

One of the brightest sparks for Mexico has been Hirving Lozano, whose pace really troubles defences. We are pricing him at 7/4 (2.75) to score anytime during the match. A 2-1 win for Mexico is priced at 27/4 (7.75)
