CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: MATCHDAY 5 BETTING TIPS

Villarreal CF vs Manchester United

A disappointing 4-1 defeat to Watford last Saturday proved to be one bad result too many for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. After three years at the helm of Manchester United, the Norweigan manager has departed, leaving the club in the untested hands of Michael Carrick ahead of a vital Champions League fixture.

Villarreal CF head into their game against the Red Devils off the back of a 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo in La Liga. Although they lost in their previous fixture at Old Trafford (2-1), Unai Emery’s Yellow Submarine will take confidence in the way they outplayed their opponent on the day.

With Manchester United in turmoil, Villarreal CF could secure a famous win this Tuesday in front of their home fans at the Estadio de la Cerámica, along with the top spot of Group F.

Manchester United are the favourites at 33/20 (2.65) to win, with Villarreal CF measured at 7/4 (2.75)

Chelsea vs Juventus

Last Saturday, a 3-0 win against Leicester City put Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table, three points clear of the closest opposition. Although they’ve already guaranteed a place in the next stage of the Champions League competition, the first place spot in Group H remains very much up for grabs when they take on Juventus at Stamford Bridge this Tuesday evening.

Like their upcoming opponents, Juventus are already guaranteed a place in the knockout phase of the Champions League. The Italian side has gone about their business in Europe in exemplary fashion, winning all four of their games so far. With the backing of three recent wins in all competitions – the most recent a 2-0  win against Lazio in the Serie A – Juventus will be travelling to England with the confidence to do a job on the Premier League leaders and make a statement that may resonate with the next team they come up against in the competition.

Chelsea are the favourites at 5/9 (1.55) to win, with Juventus measured at 11/2 (6.50)

Manchester City vs Paris Saint-Germain

Both teams are close to a guaranteed spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League, but with only a single point being the difference between them, Group A’s top spot will most probably be the prize for the victor this Wednesday.

It was business as usual for Pep’s Manchester City who put Everton to the sword (3-0) in the league and claimed all three points at the weekend. Now that their start of the season hiccups have been put behind them, City are enjoying the familiar elite form their fans are accustomed to, with The Sky Blues surely ready to bring their best when they welcome their upcoming opponents to the Etihad.

Paris Saint-Germain smashed past Nantes at the weekend 3-1, with Lionel Messi finally grabbing his first goal in the league for the reigning champions. With known desires of lifting the Champions League trophy come the end of the season, PSG must be ready to prove a point this week and show Europe that they can handle the best teams in the world at their home stadiums.

Manchester City are the favourites at 3/5 (1.60) to win, with Paris Saint-Germain measured at 43/10 (5.30)
