FA CUP SEMI-FINALS PREVIEW

FA CUP SEMI-FINALS PREVIEW

FA Cup

The magical trip to Wembley Stadium is on the horizon for both fans and clubs. Sheffield United have done well to get themselves in the semi-final against one of the best teams in the world, whilst Brighton faces off against Manchester United, who are having a torrid time in terms of injuries.

Brighton V Man United

A very tight game pins Brighton up against Manchester United, two teams who are doing well in the Premier League and would love to get to a cup final to cement their progress as a club. Roberto De Zerbi has done a magnificent job after taking over Graham Potter; he integrated Mitoma into the team whilst also making them a more possession-based side who looks to dominate both home and away. In their last game against Chelsea, they suffered two injuries to Joel Veltman and Evan Ferguson, who has been in brilliant form. The key to success for Brighton will be in the way they press Man United, as we have seen this season, United have a torrid time playing against a team that are able to press them correctly. Brentford, Liverpool, and to some extent Brighton as well—they caused them great trouble by pinning the midfielders and wing backs down.

Similarly, in terms of injuries, Manchester United will be without a host of players;, to name a few, Marcus Rashford, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and potentially Marcel Sabitzer. As they showed against a very energetic Nottingham Forest, they are more than capable of carving defences open despite their numerous injuries. Erik ten Hag speaks highly of the system and that there are rules that you need to respect, and in games where key personnel is missing, you still see players coming into the system and still able to be as effective.

Both teams will be motivated knowing a win next Sunday will get them the FA Cup final, and anything can happen in the final. We are pricing Manchester United to qualify for the final at 2.00, and over 2.50 goals in the match is priced at 1.75. A Brighton win and under 1.50 goals in the match is priced at 9.00

MATCH ODDS: Brighton and Hove Albion are the slight favourites to win at 2.40 whilst Manchester United are at 2.85 and a draw valued at 3.50

Man City V Sheffield United

Manchester City look like a well-oiled machine, firing on all cylinders, and this could well lead to a bloodbath. Not to demerit Sheffield United in any way, but the way City played against Bayern Munich in the Champions League showed that they mean business. In their last nine games in all competitions, Man City managed to score 29 goals and concede only three.  It will take some doing from Sheffield United to cause an upset this weekend.

On the other hand, Sheffield dispatched fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the quarter-finals after an exciting finish to the game as Tommy Doyle scored the winner in additional time. The team is heading towards securing automatic promotion to the Premier League next season, and they will have a taste of what awaits them next season by going up against Man City.

We are anticipating another brilliant performance by the Sky Blues, a correct score win of 3-0 for Man City is priced at 7.50, with Sheffield United to score first in the game priced at 5.15.

MATCH ODDS: Manchester City are the overwhelming favourite going into this semi-final, priced at 1.11 to win, whilst Sheffield United are at 21.00 and a draw valued at 9.50
