LIVERPOOL 2023/24 SEASON PREVIEW

Liverpool Season Preview

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s love affair extends to another season, after a successful spell, they have somewhat lost themselves chasing Manchester City. The summer rebuild that was desperately needed saw two players coming in the form of Alexis McAllister and Szboszlai, with Henderson, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Roberto Firmino and Arthur Melo all going the other way.

Make sure to re-visit the turbulent season that Liverpool experienced last season at Anfield. Now we look ahead of the prospect of the eighth season under Jurgen Klopp and will he push them back to the Champions League places again? Make sure to read the LV BET Sports Blog for more detailed information about the upcoming Premier League fixtures.

TRANSFERS – THE LACK OF

After the disarray of last season, Liverpool wanted to see the back of the 2022/23 season so bad so that they can rebuild and go again next season with a fresh mindset. Now that a good portion of the transfer window has elapsed, the only two transfers and midfield reinforcements roped in were Alexis McAllister from Brighton and Szboszlai from RB Leipzig. Both players had a brilliant season last season, with Liverpool experiencing first-hand what McAllister is capable of, after losing twice to his former team last season. The Hungarian attacking midfielder will be a breath of fresh air for Liverpool as he is a true machine. The 22-year-old played 31 games last season, scoring six and assisting eight in the Bundesliga, with most of the games he operated on the right-wing.

Those two signings are great and well-needed, but in the context of fighting for the Premier League, it might not be sufficient. Comparing the quality within the squad, one would rank Arsenal and Chelsea higher in terms of quality. We don’t exclude Liverpool going on an impressive win streak, but due to the limited depth and of late reliability on young players to provide the goods, they might experience a dip in form.

Another centre-back and a right-back would have been the ideal transfer window for Liverpool. Maybe in January, they might approach another midfielder as a loan just to cover the remainder of the season. Both backup centre backs of Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate suffered a couple of injuries last season that limited their playing time; hopefully, they can stay fit.

PREMIER LEAGUE PREDICTION

In terms of odds, we are pricing Liverpool to win the Premier League at 9.00, which ranks the Merseyside team the third overall, just behind Arsenal. Getting back into Champions League football would be expected for Liverpool or else there would be questions asked about the manager. The fight for Champions League football is going to be enthralling as there will be five to six teams competing for four places. We are pricing Liverpool at 1.57 to finish in the top four places.

Another avenue that they might explore is going through the Europa League, winning the tournament and gaining an automatic Champions League place.

Bright going forward, disappointing at the back. That is how one would describe the current Liverpool squad, with very drastic results week after week. One week they managed to beat their rivals 7-0, but the first game after that, they lost against Bournemouth.
