The 2022 Six Nations is upon us! The tournament gets underway with 2021 champions Wales heading to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin to face an Ireland side who enter the competition in great form. Coach Andy Farrell will hope his experienced squad can make a better start to this year’s competition.

IRELAND VS WALES: BETTING TIPS
IRELAND
It may be stating the obvious to say it, but Ireland are in great form. Following a disappointing start to the competition in 2021, which saw close losses to both Wales and France, Ireland embarked upon a run of three wins in a row to close out the tournament.
They followed up those successes with some thumping victories throughout the Autumn Nations Series and a notable triumph over the All Blacks. Add into the mix the recent success of Irish club sides on the European stage (Leinster in particular), and Andy Farrell’s squad should enter the tournament brimming with confidence.
Ireland haven’t won the Six Nations since 2018, finishing third in each of the last three tournaments. They’ll be looking to their talismanic fly-half and captain Johnny Sexton to lead them to success and are 3/1 to win the Six Nations and 7/1 to win the Grand Slam.
WALES
In 2021, Wales won the Six Nations and secured the Triple Crown in the process. This time around, the chances of Wayne Pivac’s side repeating their accomplishments seem slim. Wales find themselves ravaged by injuries, with lock, captain and the world’s most-capped rugby player Alun Wyn Jones among those missing out.
This opening fixture against Ireland should offer a glimpse into what can be expected from Wales for the rest of the tournament. Are they in it to win it? Or simply looking to the future and taking the opportunity to blood new talent?
Wales are a wildcard team for the tournament, who always raise their game when it matters. But, given their injury concerns, it’s probably no surprise to see Wales outside the favourites at 10/1 to win the Six Nations and 40/1 to complete the Grand Slam.
IRELAND VS WALES: SIX NATIONS BETTING ODDS
Ireland are overwhelming favourites at 1/7 to win the fixture and reverse the result from last year’s matchup. Wales are 49/10 to secure a shocking victory, while the draw is at 22/1.
