Wimbledon 2022 betting options

Heartbreakingly, the sun is starting to set on the careers of some of sport’s true icons. They are all due to be appear in the next fortnight, but with legends Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, Andy Murray and Serena Williams nearing the end you have to start to ask some awkward questions.

How many more times will we see them wow the crowds at the All England club?

That may be for another day. They have titles in their minds – so will we see a great grab glory at SW19 for perhaps one final time?

This year’s championships have been laced with controversy. Russian and Belarusian players are banned from Wimbledon, with the ITF, ATP and WTA removing ranking points from the event as a result. The decision. puts Wimbledon in new territory, leaving players to play for prize money and prestige – but not the all-important ranking points.

Serbian Novak Djokovic may have lost his world number one ranking but he starts as one of the favourites. If he wins this year, he will tie Pete Sampras with seven Wimbledon victories and will keep him on course to become the game’s all time Grand Slam king.

It’s 12 years since Rafa Nadal has won Wimbledon, but with a French Open under his belt he won’t see why he can’t do it on grass again.

Elsewhere, Matteo Berrettini has started the grass season extremely well, while Stefanos Tsitsipas will be well watched in London.

Casper Ruud and Carlos Alcaraz were major threats in Paris – but it’s Alexander Zverev who a lot of people are really talking up.

Because of the political ban, the threat from the younger crop of players may not be as strong as it usually is. Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev have been forced to sit it out – much to the annoyance of many.

Serena Williams is still chasing that one title which has eluded her these past few years.

Williams is one Grand Slam title away from tying Margaret Court for the most major singles titles in the sport’s history. Can she move on to 24?

The 40-year-old star, who hasn’t played since last year’s Wimbledon tournament, is desperate to do it but the field is strong.

Will a teen sensation stun the world?

Coco Gauff and Emma Raducanu, the US Open champion, will have the crowd on their side while French Open champion Iga Swiatek is hotly tipped to do it again.
