PREMIER LEAGUE FIXTURES: ROUND NINE BETTING

Arsenal vs Aston Villa

Arsenal’s campaign this season has been all over the place.

A terrible start to the season saw Arteta’s side take a total of zero points from their opening three fixtures against Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City. Following an international break, Arsenal saw a total turnaround of their fortunes with wins against Norwich, Burnley and most importantly, Tottenham.

While many would have thought that a victory in the North London derby would be a platform to build on, two recent draws against Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace suggest that the Gunners may have stagnated slightly ahead of their upcoming Friday fixture.

The visitors this Friday, Aston Villa, have not faired that much better.

A point behind their hosts, the Lions have only won three of their eight games so far, with four losses to Watford, Chelsea, Tottenham and Wolves last weekend.

While Arsenal head into the fixture against Villa as the historically superior side, winning seven out of their last 10 encounters, Aston Villa have claimed the most recent spoils, winning the previous three fixtures against the Gunners, 1-0, 0-3 and 1-0 respectively.

This Friday, Arsenal are the favourites at 49/50 (1.98) to win, with Aston Villa measured at 61/20 (4.05)

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester City

Very few football fans would have predicted that Brighton & Hove Albion would find themselves comfortably nestled in fourth place by the ninth game of the Premier League season.

The Seagulls have gone about their business with clinical efficiency, winning four of their eight games, drawing three and losing only one to Everton back in August. While their last three results have been low-scoring draws to Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Norwich City, Graham Potter’s side still pose a threat to any team that they encounter, having shown themselves worthy of the spot they’ve worked hard to claim.

After a bad opening day loss to Tottenham, Manchester City have gone on to win five Premier League games and drawn two.

The champions have travelled up and down the country producing lethal displays of dominance, winning against the likes of Norwich (5-0), Arsenal (5-0), Leicester City (1-0), Chelsea (1-0), and Burnley (2-0), and drawing against title-contenders Liverpool and Southampton.

This Saturday, Manchester City are the favourites at 5/12 (1.42) to win, with Brighton & Hove Albion measured at 27/4 (7.75)

Brentford vs Leicester City

It is not often that newly promoted Championship teams look as comfortable as Brentford playing in the top echelon of English football.

Arsenal, Wolves, and West Ham have all felt the sting of the Bees, with Liverpool and Aston Villa and Crystal Palace forced to share the spoils in their fixtures against Brentford. While they were unlucky to take anything home from their fixture against Chelsea last weekend, Thomas Frank’s side looked like men possessed, determined to retain their place in the Premier League for many more seasons.

Leicester City have bounced back and found their feet after a slow start to their season.

A 4-2 win against Manchester United last time out in the Premier League was just complimented by a 4-3 victory in Europe against Spartak Moscow.

Although currently 11th in the Premier League table, the Foxes know they’ve got the capacity to move up the ranks and ahead of many of their competitors. Undoubtedly, Brendan Rodgers will look to his side to reaffirm themselves as top-six contenders and produce a result this weekend.

This Sunday, Brentford are the favourites at 33/20 (2.65) to win, with Leicester City measured at 17/10 (2.70)
