FIFA WORLD CUP: SPAIN V GERMANY – GAME PREVIEW

FIFA WORLD CUP: SPAIN V GERMANY – GAME PREVIEW

Spain V Germany

Group E continues with great excitement as Spain takes on Germany in the second round of fixtures. At the Al Bayt Stadium, anything less than a win can seal Germany’s fatet in the World Cup. Spain on the other hand, had a fantastic time so far, winning by the biggest margin in this tournament yet by 7-0 against Costa Rica.

Taking a look at the FIFA rankings, these two great nations are closely ranked, with Spain in seventh place and Germany in 11th, so we should be in for a thrilling 90 minutes. In the head-to-head games between these two countries, Germany is yet to register a win against Spain and has never managed to keep a clean sheet.

SPAIN

Spain came up against a distraught Costa Rica and ran riot. Keylor Navas and his squad could not handle the flexibility that Spain had throughout the game with Ferran Torres, Gavi, Pedri, Olmo and Asensio’s movement. After knowing the result of Germany vs Japan game, Spain were probably more motivated to go out and get a result to ensure that their position is stronger than Germany for this upcoming game.

Watching the way Spain played during the game, it seemed like men against boys; even Gavi and Pedri, who are 18 and 19 years of age, respectively, showed great maturity in their play. Defensively, the Spanish backline was not really tested at any time but Rodri playing as a centre-back really helped the ball progression as they effectively had two world-class number six players on the pitch who could string passes forward.

Against Germany, Spain has enjoyed great success lately, winning comprehensively 6-0 in the Nations League and a couple of weeks later drawing 1-1, so statistics tell us that Spain will have the upper hand in this game. LV BET is pricing a 2-0 victory for Spain at 12/1 (13.00) with another goal from Dani Olmo at 16/5 (4.20)

GERMANY

Germany had a great opportunity to build up their lead against Japan, but they failed to capitalise on them and Japan ended up taking full advantage in the second half. Germany did not play particularly badly, but decisions from Hansi Flick with regard to substitutions weren’t ideal at the time. Flick tried to preserve the lead by reinforcing the defensive side, but that backfired.

Now Germany risk getting knocked out from the group stages for the second World Cup in a row, which would be a disaster considering the pedigree of the national team and the players in their squad. So this upcoming game will be a crunch match for the German team where all their hopes lie.

A 1-0 victory for Germany is priced at 15/2 (8.50) with Jamal Musiala at 7/2 (4.50) to score anytime during the match.

Match betting odds

Spain are the slight favourites in this match at 27/20 (2.35) whilst Germany are at 39/20 (2.95) and a draw valued at 11/4 (3.75)
