PREMIER LEAGUE: MATCHDAY 29 PREVIEW

Premier League

A pivotal weekend approaches in the Premier League as key battles will take place to help decide the top four race, relegation scrap and the title winners. We won’t be covering the early kick-off match between Man City and Liverpool as we have dedicated a whole blog for that game which you can read here.

Newcastle V Man United

PREMIER LEAGUE FORM: W – W – L – L – D  VS  D – L – W – W – D

Old rivals Newcastle United and Man United meet again after the tense EFL Final bout which Man United won. Eddie Howe’s men need to take something out of this game in order to keep themselves in the fight for top four. The slip-ups from Tottenham Hotspurs help Newcastle, but they need to string a good number of points from now until the end of the season for them to return to the pinnacle of club competitions.

On the other hand, Manchester United will be without talisman Casemiro after he got sent off in their goalless draw against Southampton. It will be a huge blow for Erik ten Hag should Marcel Sabitzer not recover in time to play, as he suffered a knock whilst playing for Austria in the Euro qualifiers. Christian Eriksen is still unavailable, which could prompt some new faces to be thrown into the mix for Man United.

We anticipate a very tight match between these two great clubs and pricing a 1-1 draw at 5.20, with a Man United win of 1-0 at 8.00.

Match Odds: Newcastle United come into the game as slight favourites at 2.45, whilst Man United are at 2.75, with a draw coming in at 3.40

West Ham V Southampton

PREMIER LEAGUE FORM: D – L – W – L – D  VS  D – L – D – W – L

The Premier League is shaping up to have a grand finale in terms of who will stay in the division and who is relegated. Four points separate 20th and 12th place; it doesn’t get tighter than that.

Another team who is surprisingly lingering at the bottom half of the table is West Ham, who enjoyed a terrific campaign last season both domestically and internationally. This time around, they have only won six games, and arguably their best performances are in the Europa Conference League. In the reverse fixture, they managed to get a draw thanks to a late equalizer from Declan Rice.

Southampton are rock bottom but has impressed in previous games; clinching draws against Man United and Tottenham whilst also winning at home against Leicester City. The newly appointed manager, Ruben Selles, has done a great job with the limited resources available to him; even if they do go down in the end there will still be a genuine fight for survival.

Both teams need to win and will go all in for it, we are pricing both teams to score at 1.88, whilst a West Ham victory of 3-1 is priced at 9.75

Match Odds: West Ham are the favourites to come out on top at 1.70, with the visitor priced at 4.65 and a draw valued at 3.85.

Chelsea V Aston Villa

PREMIER LEAGUE FORM: D – W – W – L – L  VS  W – D – W – W – L

It’s very difficult to sum up the season that Chelsea has had this year: a change of ownership, a myriad of new expensive players, new coaching staff and a poor run of results, will hopefully set the picture. It’s not all doom and gloom, the team is looking better and with a cohesive plan to win games, rather than relying on moments of brilliance to get something out of a game. Chelsea is yet to play a team in the top six and win, which is uncharted territory for a club with the stature of the Blues.

Aston Villa are level on points with Chelsea, and they could add to the woes of Graham Potter and his Chelsea side by beating them on their own turf. The last time Aston Villa won at Stamford Bridge was in 2011, when they secured a 3-1 victory. Historically this is a game that produces a lot of goals, thus, we are pricing over 3.50 goals at 3.30 with Aston Villa to score first in the match at 2.95.

Match Odds: Chelsea are the odds on favourites to get three points at 1.60, whilst Aston Villa are at 5.55 and a draw at 3.90.
