PREMIER LEAGUE: MATCHDAY 4 PREVIEW

PREMIER LEAGUE: MATCHDAY 4 PREVIEW

Premier League

September rolls in and brings with it some enticing matchups. One to look forward to is Manchester United’s trip to the Emirates, with Liverpool hosting Aston Villa at Anfield. Newcastle will look to get back to winning ways against Brighton after they let a slender lead slip against the 10-men team of Liverpool. This weekend will be the last one before the Premier League takes it’s first break for international football.

Join LV BET as we go through some of the key talking points that will most likely shape up the coming weekend action coming from the Premier League

Brighton V Newcastle

A tough pill to swallow for both clubs as they suffered shocking defeats last time out. Brighton controlled the ball against West Ham but could not find the net, whilst David Moyes’ men counter-attacking prowess earned the team the three points. Roberto De Zerbi commented that he is a proud with his team as they stuck to the philosophy of play despite conceding on the counter. Something that other Premier League managers are observing from the build-up play of Brighton is that, they leave just two centre-backs, Webster and Dunk, who are great on the ball, but if there is a turnover in the middle of the field, they are left exposed as they leave huge pockets of space on either side of them. This was the case in the first goal from James Ward-Prowse. The former Southampton player intercepted the ball to Solly March and was able to pick out a pass to the unrelenting Mikel Antonio. That space was exploited throughout the game by the visitors.

Their next opponents are Newcastle, who let a lead slip against a 10-men Liverpool side. The numerical superiority did not yield any extra chances, the only effort at goal which threatened to add to the lead was the effort by Almiron, which struck the post. A late brace from Darwin Nunez stunned St James’ Park, which left the team disheartened after a good performance.

The euphoria after the opening weekend for Newcastle did not follow up in their performances against Man City and Liverpool, they need to raise the bar and finish off games. Favourites to win the contest are Brighton at 2.50, with Newcastle coming in at 2.65, whilst a draw is at 3.90

Both teams to score is priced at 1.45, with Brighton to score first at 1.90. LV BET is pricing Solly March at 5.00 with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak at 2.85 to get on the scoresheet.

Liverpool V Aston Villa

Liverpool rose from the death against Newcastle, giving them an impeccable boost after the second game running in which they had a red card shown to their players. For the game against Villa they will have to play without Virgil Van Dijk, with their defensive line suffering from a lack of options after Konate being unavailable through injury. Jurgen Klopp will be looking to add reinforcements as the last week of the transfer market approaches.

Aston Villa pushed Burnley aside in their last game, with a masterclass display from Matty Cash, who scored twice after bombarding forward. A stern test awaits Unai Emery’s team going head to head against one of the best team on the land.

With Liverpool playing at home, we are pricing Liverpool to claim all three points at 1.67, with Aston Villa to shock the home crowd and win at 4.70, whilst a draw is valued at 4.55. An entertaining game with over 3.50 goals priced at 2.10, Darwin Nunez has been on top form this season, showcasing his talents even after coming on from the bench, the Uruguayan is priced at 2.40 to score anytime.

Arsenal V Man United

A gigantic tussle awaits at the Emirates as Arsenal take on Man United. Both teams have had considerably high expectations going into the season, but the results have been underwhelming for both sides. Man United already lost to Tottenham and want to avoid the same result away from home against Arsenal. Both teams conceded early last time out with the Red Devils recovering from 2-0 to win 3-2 against Nottingham Forest, which needs to be said that a stroke of good luck got them into the situation in the first hand. It was completely the opposite for Arsenal, as after a wayward pass from Bukayo Saka, Andreas Pereira shot awkwardly to find the back of the net, with Arsenal spending the majority of the game chasing the equaliser. A quick-fire double got Arsenal in the lead, but celebrations were cut short as Joao Palhinha latched onto a corner to earn the Cottagers a deserved draw.

Last year this fixture brought about great emotions, with United taking the lead, Arsenal finding a way to get back and turn the tie in their favour, United roaring back to 2-2, but at the end Eddie Nketiah had the decisive touch to make it 3-2. A high-scoring fixture is always on the cards at the Emirates, over 3.50 goals is priced at 2.40. Arsenal to win and both teams to score is valued at 2.60, with a goal from Bukayo Saka priced at 2.90.
