ENGLAND

Form: W – D – W

Playing for an easier draw was never an option for Gareth Southgate and his lions as they beat the Czech Republic (1-0) in their backyard. By topping Group D with two wins and a draw, England ensured that their next opponent would be the second-place finishers of the “group of death”.

Such was the proximity between the teams in Group F that during the final group stage fixtures, England were potentially playing each of France, Portugal, Germany and Hungary at different moments of the night. Eventually, things fell into place for their upcoming opponents, Germany, as both teams now look forward to facing off at Wembley Stadium this Tuesday evening.

Although they turned up to the competition as one of the tournament’s favourites, England have been unable to knit together a comprehensive performance. Enforced player changes up and down their 4-2-3-1 formation have left supporters guessing, as critics and pundits continue to squabble over their predicted lineups. And, with an embarrassment of riches in every position, even the place of captain Harry Kane is up for questioning.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for the Three Lions. While Germany have had the trickier group and played harder opponents, they have conceded five goals in their three games. On the other hand, England are yet to see their own net ripple, making it through their group stage matches without conceding a single goal, and never really looking like they might.

England are calculated at 4/5 (2.60) to qualify this Tuesday.

The Three Lions are at 16/5 (4.20) to win against Germany with both teams scoring

Harry Kane is measured at 7/5 (2.40) to get his first goal of the tournament, with Raheem Sterling at 13/5 (3.60) to score again for England.

GERMANY

Form: L – W – D

Germany fought back twice to secure a 2-2 draw against Hungary in Munich to reach the knockout stage of the EURO 2020 (2021) competition. Results went their way as they shared one point with their opponents last Wednesday, which was enough to ensure a second-place finish and a matchup with their old rivals, England.

No strangers to facing the Three Lions, German supporters have already begun to recite tales of fond memories at Wembley Stadium, including the Euro 96 semi-final victory – when England manager Gareth Southgate missed a penalty and allowed Germany to progress and win the final.

However, things feel different in the German camp this time around. Manager Joachim Low has already publicly warned his side that a repeat of group stage mistakes will spell disaster for Die Mannschaft and see their participation in EURO 2020 (2021) come to an end.

With a favourable draw awaiting them if they can surpass the English threat, the German national team will be keen to turn up in front of a hostile crowd this Tuesday and see themselves into the later stages of a competition they haven’t won since the turn of the century.

Bayern Munich talisman Serge Gnabry is at 9/4 (3.25) to score this Tuesday with Kai Havertz at 13/5 (3.60) to net his third of the competition.

Germany are at 51/50 (2.02) to qualify this Tuesday.

We’ve got over 3.5 goals on offer at 20/7 (3.85), with Germany to win 2-1 at 10/1 (11.00).

ENGLAND VS GERMANY: UEFA EURO 2020 (2021) BETTING ODDS
